buzzTomorrow, Extemp Central will kick off the 2014-2015 season and begin its regular content schedule.  This season will feature the return of the National Points Race, an advice column, and an irregular silly column with AGD ideas entitled “Wasting Prep Time.”  The details of these content pieces will be discussed in subsequent weeks.

During August, Extemp Central will profile the top extempers to watch in 2014-2015, reveal the featured tournaments and format of this year’s National Points Race, post a topic brief on disproportionate minority confinement by Bill Thompson of LaRue County High School (KY), and hopefully post a few interview pieces with last year’s prominent national circuit competitors.

As far as regular content is concerned, the first premium topic brief will be posted on August 5th.  Those wishing to purchase premium content subscriptions can order them at SpeechGeek Market.  There will be three weekly R&D postings this season.  Wednesday and Thursday will feature R&D on a specific International or U.S. Extemp issue.  R&D on Friday will cover top news stories.  It is our hope that this R&D schedule will bolster the files of extempers on specific issues and give them useful articles on the eve of going to weekend tournaments.  Extemp Central also plans to have a “Weekend Results Rundown” to feature the results of local tournaments.  Extempers are highly encouraged to send us results as they take place for use in this feature.  Without results, it cannot happen!

Here is the regular content schedule for 2014-2015:

Monday: International and United States Extemp Questions
Tuesday: Premium Content Topic Brief, Premium R&D & Weekend Results Rundown
Wednesday: Extemp Central Weekly News Quiz & International or U.S. Extemp topic-centric R&D
Thursday: International or U.S. Extemp topic-centric R&D
Friday: Top News Stories R&D

Extemp Central will also use its social media outlets on Facebook and Twitter to feature useful articles, news about the national circuit, or breaking national and international news.  An example of this was our posting of Slate‘s Middle East friendship chart two weeks ago.

We look forward to bringing you all the action of the 2014-2015 season, so check back tomorrow for the first R&D of the year.
