Changes Coming to Extemp Central Next Month

Starting next month, on November 2nd, there will be some changes appearing on Extemp Central.  We plan to debut axmas-party better rollout of content on a weekly basis to best assist the extemp community.  We are also open to additional suggestions you might have on how to make the website more user friendly or provide you with better resources.

The changes that will be implemented are:

1) Each day, Extemp Central will post links to five major news articles that you will want to read about global events.  These articles can come from newspaper sources, think tanks, policy journals, etc.  All of these are meant to diversify the readings extempers do and provide them with additional material if they are not cutting it for their files.

2) On Tuesday and Wednesday, Extemp Central will roll out ten questions for U.S. Extemp and ten questions for International Extemp.  This will double the amount of questions that will be offered per week.

3) Extemp Central will provide a topic brief for extempers on a current event issue at least every other week, likely to be released on Thursday.  Shorter breakdowns of current events issues are likely to appear on the site as well.

Also, the news quiz will continue to be posted on Monday’s and answers will be released on Friday’s.  Furthermore, the next edition of The Ex Files will be released in a few weeks before the Glenbrooks tournament.  This edition will feature a detailed recap of the first three tournaments of the year in the Extemp National Points Race, an interview with last year’s NFL U.S. Extemp national champion Evan Larson, another roundtable of discussion about a current event issue, and much more.

Additionally, encourage more of your friends to make us a friend on Facebook.  At last count, our group has 148 members and we would like it to continue growing.  Don’t forget to send us your local extemp tournament results either because we would be happy to post those on the website.

Finally, please register here for a WordPress account and post some comments on the site.  We’d love to hear some feedback and debate on some issues from you.
