2011 Extemp TOC: The TOC Qual Board is Updated

The qualification board for the 2011 Extemporaneous Speaking Tournament of Champions has been updated to reflect the results of last week’s Remy Wilcox Speech and Debate Tournament at Whitman College.  Extemp Central is also looking through state tournament results from last year to add to the list of qualifiers since any state finalist at a state tournament held after April 15th qualified to this year’s TOC under Category 2C.  Extemp Central is still in the process of working its way through these results, but the qualification board has been updated to reflect what we have found so far.  In our research we know that the finalists of last year’s Michigan, North Dakota, and Oregon state tournaments qualified to this year’s TOC, but we cannot find a list of the underclassmen finalists at those tournaments.  If you have any information on these tournaments or if you know a student has qualified to the TOC but is not listed here, please forward us that information.

In all, 132 extempers have now qualified for the TOC, with Texas leading the way with 24 qualifiers.  60 extempers have one qualifying leg and need another elimination round appearance to become a qualifier.

There are no qualifying tournaments for the Extemp TOC this week.  Next week’s Glenbrooks and Villiger tournaments will provide two opportunities for students to earn legs to the TOC if they are seeking to qualify under category 3.
